Welcome to Creative Harmonies: Living at the Convergence of Faith & Art.
My name’s Lew Curtiss. I’m a faith-driven artist working in beautiful, highly creative Seattle with my dream bride of over thirty-years. We have three children, all grown into young adulthood.
My Mission: That my art practice will result in changed lives to God’s glory.
I am passionate about the life altering power of faith-driven art. I’ve worked in many different media; filmmaking, video production, photography, and theatre. All have been media of story. Story has always been the continuity of my diverse career of creativity.
Recently I chose to continue this journey in visual media and have become completely engaged in making meaning through Collage/Mixed-Media. In as much as I have enjoyed nearly four-decades of collaboration in production media, I now enjoy the less hectic, more peaceful solitude of what I call personal & portable art-making.
I get up six days a week, go to my art table and develop works in the presence of the Lord. It’s just the two of us in collaboration. Together, we work without deadlines, or production delays. Together we explore the human landscape of experience, seeking the broad dimensions of humanity’s relationship to our Creator God.
Make no mistake, I do not make so called “Christian Art”, though like the Apostle Paul, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel,” (Rom. 1:16). Like so many of God’s creatives (Luci Shaw, Mako Fujimura, Jeff Berryman, and many others) I am an artist and I am a Christian. I am not a Christian Artist. My art-making is driven by faith. And as many persons far wiser than myself have said, when faith drives creativity, the subject matter goes far beyond either the doors of a church or the covers of a Bible. The entire human enterprise is open to exploration.
